Online Activities Available Through July 31
Parents, your children will continue to have access to Everyday Math Online and First in Math this summer through July 31. GES Collects Record Donations for Math-a-thon
Our students and teachers raised $6,765.40 for St. Jude's Children's Hospital by participating in the annual Math-a-thon competition. The money goes to a worthy cause. We're proud of our students for their participation in this event. Twelve home rooms had 100% participation. They were: 3rd Grade: Bustler, L. Moore, VanPatten; 4th Grade: Gresham, Harden, Miller, Smith; 5th Grade: Calhoun, Cruse, Kyzer, Montauge, and Stanfield. Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Our principal, Tim Oswald, has been named Administrator of the Year by the Early Childhood Association of SC. Congratulations, Mr. O!!!
Congratulations GES!
Once again, GES has been awarded the Palmetto Silver Award for general performance in academics. Way to go GES! This would not be possible without the dedication of our teachers, staff, and students in addition to the support of our parents. It truly "takes a village" to achieve such an award.
Open Toe Sandals and Flip Flops Policy
The weather is getting warmer and children start wanting to wear their sandals or flip flops to school. We just want to remind parents that any child wearing this type of shoe will not be allowed to play soccer, kickball, or other sports. In addition, students will not be allowed to play on the playground equipment. This is our policy for the safety of your child. Please help keep your children safe by having them wear closed toe shoes to school.
Summer Reading Suggestions
It's important for your child to read over the summer months. The 2012-13 SC Book Award Nominees would be a great place to start. There are two award categories: SC Picture Book Award and SC Children's Book Award. Click here to see the list of the SC Book Award Nominees.
